Jim Bush and Monica Yun Present at the 31st Annual PFAC Conference

Keystone Partners Jim Bush and Monica Yun, alongside Trevor Murphy, Orange County President of the Professional Fiduciary Association of California (PFAC), recently presented at the 31st Annual Educational Conference hosted by PFAC. During their presentation titled “Power Plays and Fiduciary Pitfalls: Preventing and Defending Power of Attorney Disputes,” Bush, Yun, and Murphy discussed strategies for preventing and defending power of attorney disputes, offering practical guidance on fiduciary duties, common triggers for litigation, and proactive steps to mitigate risk. The session emphasized actionable approaches to help fiduciaries navigate complex responsibilities while safeguarding client interests.

“Disputes over the exercise of powers of attorney can escalate quickly, particularly if the rights and responsibilities of the attorney-in-fact aren’t clearly understood,” said Bush. “Our goal was to provide practical information so that fiduciaries acting under such powers clearly understand their obligations, identify likely issues, and minimize the risk that their conduct develops into litigation.”

“These matters are rarely just legal—they’re often deeply personal,” Yun stated. “We focused on approaches that not only strengthen legal positioning but also help fiduciaries manage sensitive dynamics and make informed, thoughtful decisions.”
