Downtown Breakfast Club Highlights People, Places and Projects Shaping DTLA


The Downtown Breakfast Club announced the winners of its 44th Annual Roses & Lemon Awards, held at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel, Crystal Ballroom. The longstanding tradition celebrates the people, places and projects shaping the future of Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA), while also calling attention to areas in need of improvement.

2026 Award Winners include:

  • Centurion Club: Mount St. Mary University; Jonathan Club; Central Library; Orpheum, Haynes Foundation
  • Los Angeles Legends: Anchor: Angel’s Flight; Fugetsu-Do; Golden Gopher; Philippe’s; Grand Central Market; Modern: Last Bookstore, Seven Grand, Sugarfish, Guisados, Factory Kitchen
  • Residential: (affordable housing): Liv DTLA; Umeya Apartments, Both Winners
  • Arts & Culture: Grand Ave. Arts: All Access
  • Restaurants & Bars: Vaca DTLA; Tabl M; Casa Ipanema, All Winners
  • Workplace Interiors: LA Care Health Plan
  • Rose Garden Award: LA Convention Center Expansion Project

Founded in 1981, the Roses & Lemon Awards recognize excellence across development, adaptive reuse, dining, retail, arts and culture, and workplace innovation. The program also presents a single “Lemon” award, highlighting a project, policy, or cultural issue that has hindered DTLA’s growth. This year’s lemon Award recipient was Pershing Square for its price tag, which remains unknown but is somewhere between $25 million and $40 million.

In addition to the awards presentation, the program featured a special In Memoriam tribute honoring renowned architect Frank Gehry, whose contributions to DTLA’s skyline and cultural identity remain profound
