Shuttered since the pandemic, the historic Cinerama Dome in Hollywood and surrounding 14-screen movie theater are set to reopen under the management of Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, a unit of Sony Pictures Entertainment. CBRE’s Nicole Mihalka, along with Carl Muhlstein of Muhlstein CRE, and Scott Burns and Shauna Mattis of JLL jointly represented the ownership of the Dome Entertainment Center, while JLL’s Ken Shishido represented Alamo Drafthouse.
Opened in 1963, the Dome will undergo restorative renovations starting next month through early 2028. Its historic legacy and singular moviegoing experience will be honored and carefully preserved, with the iconic “Cinerama” name and exterior branding left intact. The adjacent complex, formerly run by ArcLight Cinemas, will be operated as an Alamo Drafthouse dine-in cinema.
“This lease marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for one of Hollywood’s most iconic and beloved properties,” said Mihalka. “The Cinerama Dome has been a cultural landmark for generations, and bringing Sony Entertainment and Alamo Drafthouse to the Dome Entertainment Center is a strong vote of confidence in the future of theatrical entertainment and the continued demand for shared moviegoing experiences.”
