Miley Cyrus has revealed the somewhat bizarre way she ended up enlisting “Call Her Daddy” podcaster Alex Cooper to host the new “Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special,” joking that she had little choice but to sign her up—because the two are neighbors in Los Angeles.

Cyrus, 33, who shot to fame while starring as the precocious pop star in the hit series, is due to return to her roots in a new Disney+ special that will see her opening up about her experiences filming the show, while also revealing never-before-seen footage.

While the anniversary special features appearances from several guests—including Cyrus’ parents, Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus—it was Cooper, 31, who was called upon to interview the singer and actress about her favorite “Hannah Montana” memories.

Now, Cyrus has shed some light on how that collaboration came to be, taking to the stage at the premiere for the special, which began streaming on Disney+ on March 24, and jokingly branding Cooper “creepy” for her over-the-top dedication to “Hannah Montana” and her decision to move so close to the singer’s Los Angeles abode.

“I called [Alex] with this wild idea,” Cyrus recalled. “[I said], ‘Do you think it could be a good idea to do a ‘Hannah Montana’ anniversary special?’ But because I was in the middle of it, because I was Hannah, I didn’t know what you all would want.

“And Alex being a superfan—[which is] kinda creepy!—she is also my neighbor, which is also creepy. She got money and then she moved next door to me.”

Cyrus noted that, after learning how close Cooper lived to her, she had little choice but to ask her to host the special, adding: “There was no other host, I was like, just walk next door.”

Miley Cyrus has revealed the somewhat bizarre way she ended up enlisting “Call Her Daddy” podcaster Alex Cooper to host the new “Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special.” (Disney+)

However, the “Hannah Montana” star did not end her mockery there—going on to accuse Cooper of feigning innocence about the proximity of their properties.

“It was weird, she was like, ‘Oh my god, you live here?'” Cyrus said. “She interviewed me at my house, like five years ago, so [she] knew damn well where I was!”

Cyrus was referring to her August 2020 appearance on Cooper’s hit podcast, “Call Her Daddy,” which was recorded at her Studio City abode—with the two women sitting outside in the backyard while discussing everything from the singer’s split from Hemsworth to her memories about “Hannah Montana.”

Despite Cyrus’ ribbing of Cooper, the two do not in fact live next door to one another, but rather a three-minute drive apart in Studio City—the neighborhood where the songstress purchased her first home in 2011, when she was still a teenager.

The chart-topper paid $3.9 million for her sprawling 5,000-square-foot dwelling, which offered five bedrooms and seven bathrooms. She still owns the place to this day, despite adding several other properties to her portfolio in the years since.

In a previous listing for the home, it was described as being located in an “astonishingly beautiful setting” atop a hill, a spot that afforded it “lush canyon vistas.”

When Cyrus purchased it, the midcentury modern dwelling had recently undergone an extensive renovation that saw it taken down to the studs and then “reimagined” to create “the perfect celebrity hideaway.”

Although she later moved into a dwelling in Malibu with her then-partner, Liam Hemsworth, Cyrus is understood to have relocated back to her Studio City abode when their home was reduced to ash in the 2018 Woolsey Fire, mere weeks before the duo tied the knot.

Cyrus would later describe the fire as a key turning point in her life, one that she said made her much clearer about what was important—and what wasn’t.

“When my house burned down, that was the biggest blessing I’ve ever had in my life, actually,” she said at a Q&A session in New York in May 2025.

“Losing everything and being able to rebuild, and to be able to be purposeful and choose every piece that I’m gonna collect—or also just about the people in my life.”

Cyrus and Hemsworth, who wed in December 2018, had split by the summer of 2019, and their divorce was finalized in 2020.

The singer purchased her Studio City dwelling in 2011—and 11 years later, Cooper moved into a home just down the street. (YouTube/Call Her Daddy)

According to Cyrus, Cooper feigned innocence when the singer pointed out how close they lived to one another. (YouTube/Call Her Daddy)

Not long after news of their separation began to hit the headlines, Cyrus hinted at struggles in their marriage in her hit August 2019 song “Slide Away,” in which she confessed her desire to quit Malibu and return to “the city lights.”

“So won’t you slide away / Back to the ocean, I’ll go back to the city lights,” she sang—a lyric that many interpreted as a sign she had only moved out to Malibu because of Hemsworth’s desire to live there.

Meanwhile, Cooper and her husband, movie producer Matt Kaplan, snapped up their own Studio City abode 11 years later, in 2022, when they plunked down a staggering $10.7 million for a 5,000-square-foot residence that sits at the heart of a 1.5-acre parcel.

According to Google Maps, Cooper and Kaplan’s dwelling is located just a three-minute drive, or an 11-minute walk, away from Cyrus’ abode, with both properties offering an incredible level of privacy, despite their proximity to downtown L.A.

But while Cyrus’ dwelling was newly renovated when she purchased it, Cooper and Kaplan faced a very different homebuying experience, one that saw them snapping up a dwelling that they knew would require a major transformation.

Indeed, Cooper previously admitted to Architectural Digest that the prospect of turning the home into their dream sanctuary was more than a little daunting to her.

“I was a little overwhelmed by how much of an undertaking it would be, because [the home] was not our style whatsoever,” she shared.

However, she soon realized that buying a home that was so far from what they were looking for in terms of its aesthetic was actually a bonus—because they could essentially treat it like a blank canvas.

“That ended up being the beauty [of it],”she explained. “It was so far from our taste that it allowed us to tailor every single room to our liking.”

Having created the perfect dwelling to build their life together, Kaplan cemented the property’s significance in their relationship in 2023 by getting down on one knee and popping the question to Cooper in their backyard.

Indeed, the “Call Her Daddy” host ended up feeling so at home in her new Studio City neighborhood that she revealed in December 2024 that she had purchased her parents a dwelling not far from her own property.

“My parents are officially moving to Los Angeles and I bought them a house,” the former Barstool Sports star announced. “It makes me emotional thinking about it, because when I started ‘Call Her Daddy,’ I had somewhat of a vision of what I hoped this would turn into.”

Just months after loanDepot‘s Alex Madonna was named to a new role to focus on emerging technology, artificial intelligence and modern sales structures, it was announced that he’s departing the company.

Madonna, who was most recently loanDepot’s executive vice president of direct lending and spent 16 years at the company, confirmed the news in a LinkedIn post on Friday afternoon.

“After 16 remarkable years under Anthony Hsieh‘s mentorship and leadership, as many of you know, we mutually agreed it was time for me to move on from the organization,” Madonna wrote.

In the same post, Madonna announced that he recently founded Trust One Financial, which will be open for business in early April.

“We will be partnering with Jason Stuecher and Ease Mortgage, while backed by the power of UWM. We will leverage the best tools and fulfilment available in the industry to delight our customers and create a platform of success and growth for our originators,” he wrote.

In an interview with HousingWire, Madonna, who was a founding member of the company, described his late December departure from the company as a “mutual” and “amicable” decision that aligned with Hsieh reassembling “a fresh leadership team.” Madonna also confirmed that Trust One will be a broker shop and a dba of Ease Mortgage.

“I was watching from the sidelines some of these very large emerging platforms in the broker space … there’s a deep interest on my part to go attack that market, and really think I can do a lot there,” he said. “My roots are in the broker space.”

So far, Madonna said it’s just himself as an employee, but he’ll be recruiting for his Irvine, California-based shop. “I plan on taking this to a pretty large scale over the next 12 to 24 months,” he said.

Hsieah, loanDepot’s CEO initially announced Madonna’s departure on LinkedIn back in December, but few details were mentioned about Madonna’s career shift.

“As a founding member of loanDepot, Alex exemplifies honor, ethics, and commitment. He has consistently been the first one in the mornings, making decisions that benefited both the team and the company,” Hsieh wrote.

Hsieh also expressed that he was supportive of Madonna’s “new chapter” in his professional journey and touted his “intensity, focus and drive” as one of the reasons that loanDepot experienced 38% growth each year for its first 11 years.

loanDepot declined to comment further when reached by HousingWire.

The sprawling South Carolina estate where Alex Murdaugh brutally murdered his wife and son has been taken off the market, just five months after it was relisted for $2.2 million—and mere days after the disgraced lawyer’s legal team launched an appeal with the Supreme Court to have his murder conviction overturned.

Murdaugh, 57, had been living on the enormous farm, which is known as Moselle, with his wife, Maggie, and their two sons, Buster and Paul, for years when he was arrested and charged with the deaths of his spouse and eldest child.

The former lawyer, who has vehemently denied shooting Maggie and Paul on the property, was convicted of both murders in March 2023 and is currently serving two life sentences.

In the years since his arrest, Murdaugh’s former home has been left unrecognizable, having initially been divided into multiple properties—before the primary residence was transformed as part of a dramatic renovation carried out by its most recent owner.

Moselle, which is located in Islandton, SC, and originally spanned 1,770 acres, was first put on the market just months before Murdaugh was convicted.

The property, which is known as Moselle, was purchased at auction for $1 million in February 2024—and the buyer, Alex Blair, then carried out an extensive renovation of the Murdaughs’ former residence. (Realtor.com)

Just a few months later, those buyers, James Ayer and Jeffrey Godley, chose to carve up the land and put the Murdaugh family home and its surrounding 21 acres back on the market for $1.95 million.

However, it struggled to find a buyer and was ultimately put up on the auction block in February 2024, when it was bought by Alex Blair for just $1 million.

Soon after, Blair began an extensive renovation and expansion of the Murdaugh family residence, which he had initially purchased as a second home for his family—before choosing to try to sell it himself, listing it for the sky-high price of $2.75 million in December 2024.

That listing was then removed in April 2025 and it remained off the market for months, before Blair made another attempt to find a buyer in September, this time listing the property not as a family home but as a farm, with a newly lowered asking price of $2.2 million.

However, Blair once again struggled to find a buyer and the property was delisted for a second time on Feb. 21.

The delisting came less than two weeks after Murdaugh’s lawyers appeared before the South Carolina Supreme Court to argue that their client’s murder conviction should be overturned, arguing that the former attorney was not given a fair trial.

That appeal process is ongoing, according to The Associated Press.

Still, even if the murder conviction is overturned, Murdaugh will not be freed; in addition to his life sentences for murder, Murdaugh was previously sentenced to 40 years behind bars when he was convicted of 22 federal financial crimes, including conspiracy to commit wire fraud and bank fraud; bank fraud; wire fraud; and money laundering.

Meanwhile, the future of his former home remains unclear.

The property was originally purchased by Blair for use as a secondary home for his family, he previously revealed to Realtor.com®.

Blair documented his renovations on social media, revealing that he had nearly doubled the size of the home (seen before the renovation) with his overhaul. (Facebook)

In October 2024, he spoke to Realtor.com about his reasons for purchasing the home, sensationally insisting that he believes Murdaugh is innocent of the murders of his wife and son, while revealing that—despite reports to the contrary—his portion of the property did include the kennels where his son Paul was shot.

A crime scene expert determined Murdaugh ambushed Paul in the dog kennels and shot him twice, then shot his wife five times, delivering the final shots after she fell to her knees.

However, Blair claimed that could not have been the case, revealing that he was actually in possession of the kennel door and window that contain the bullet holes, which he said served as clear evidence of Murdaugh’s innocence.

“I have the door and the window from the dog kennel,” he said. “[Murdaugh] is a big man; he was even bigger back then, and he’s too big for the bullets to have gone through in the way that they did.”

“Maybe it was karma for other things that he did,” he went on. “But I don’t think he killed them.”

Reports initially suggested that the dog kennels had not been included in the 21-acre portion of the Murdaugh family estate that he purchased. However, Blair says that the kennels, as well as Murdaugh’s private airplane hangar, were both part of the sale.

He tore down both structures while renovating the home.

He added that, while he didn’t know Murdaugh personally, many of the locals who live on the street where the Moselle Estate House sits agreed with him that the former lawyer is not guilty of the murders.

“Everyone on that road is like, ‘No,'” Blair shared.

He revealed his hope that the incredibly detailed overhaul of the property would help to remove any “bad stigma” from it, noting that he wanted to change the home’s narrative in a “positive” way.

Those renovations included an extension on one side of the property, which now serves as a master wing, as well as a complete transformation of the home’s interior. Blair also replaced the airplane hangar and kennels with new exterior structures, rebuilding a new airplane hangar and adding a barn.

“Moselle is located in Colleton County, South Carolina, and features 48.2 manicured acres. The home and grounds have seen a complete overhaul, are exceptionally maintained, and it is in walk-in-ready condition,” a recent listing stated.

“You’re welcomed into the property through a grand 1/4 mile long live oak-lined driveway, complete with a new custom iron gate entrance for added privacy and curb appeal. At the end of the main driveway lies the 2 story, Lowcountry plantation style estate.

“This meticulously overhauled custom home has seen a recent expansion and now offers four spacious bedrooms and five luxurious bathrooms. Designed with an open floor plan, there is a seamless flow from the grand entrance and great room to the gourmet kitchen complete with high-end appliances.

“Vaulted ceilings and new fixtures throughout lend a sense of drama and elegance to every space. The home boasts a fabulous new master wing for ultimate privacy, along with a beautifully appointed spa-like bathroom.”

The listing went on to note that the property would be ideal for any “equestrian enthusiasts” thanks to its 10-acre fenced horse pasture and external barns, which can be “accessed by a separate service entry point.”

“This estate is an exceptional blend of luxury, privacy, and functionality, ideal for those seeking a country lifestyle with space to entertain, or simply enjoy the stunning Lowcountry landscape,” the online description continued.

Unsurprisingly, the listing made no mention of the property’s very murky history—which Blair previously told Realtor.com was not unusual in the local area.

“Every property in Lowcountry has a history,” he said. “One bad thing about our state is that slave trading happened here.

“Bad things have happened on every property. But you have a choice to either focus on the negative or to create a positive narrative. And that’s what I want to do.”

When asked about his decision to extend the home with an addition, Blair joked that it was simply his “obsessive” desire to make the property “symmetrical.”

All of the windows and exterior elements of the extension were custom-made to match the exterior of the original home, he added.

If you’re a California resident concerned about federal enforcement actions, civil rights violations, or protecting your family’s legal interests in an increasingly complex legal landscape, understanding high-profile cases of alleged excessive force can help you recognize when legal intervention is necessary.

What Happened: Federal Agents Named in Fatal Shooting of Alex Pretti

According to reporting by KARE 11 and ProPublica, government records have identified the federal agents involved in the fatal shooting of Minneapolis protester Alex Pretti as Border Patrol agent Jesus Ochoa and Customs and Border Protection officer Raymundo Gutierrez.

Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse, was shot and killed by federal immigration officers during a protest in the Uptown neighborhood of Minneapolis.

The Conflicting Narratives: Government Claims vs. Witness Evidence

The Department of Homeland Security’s initial report to Congress stated that two agents fired at Pretti after struggling to arrest him, with one agent allegedly yelling “He’s got a gun!” multiple times before shots were fired. However, this official narrative sharply contrasts with bystander video evidence from multiple angles.

What the videos show:

Pretti appeared to intervene as federal agents sprayed a chemical agent in a woman’s face and pushed her to the ground

After the shooting, agents can be heard yelling “Where’s the gun?” while surrounding Pretti’s body

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara confirmed Pretti was a legal gun owner with a valid permit to carry a firearm

Congressional Hearing Scheduled to Address Pattern of Excessive Force

U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and U.S. Representative Robert Garcia (D-CA) scheduled a public forum where witnesses testified about “the violent tactics and disproportionate use of force by agents of the DHS.”

Key witnesses included:

Family members and attorneys representing individuals affected by federal agent actions

Aliya Rahman, a Minneapolis resident with a disability who was reportedly dragged from her car by immigration agents before being detained

Martin Rascon, a California resident who was fired upon by CBP agents while in his vehicle

Miramar Martinez, a Chicago resident shot five times by CBP agents and charged with assaulting agents—charges that were eventually dropped

What This Means for California Families: Protecting Your Rights and Your Loved Ones

Cases like these raise critical questions about federal enforcement accountability, the use of force, and the importance of having experienced legal representation when civil rights are violated.

How can California residents protect themselves and their families?

Document everything: Video evidence proved crucial in contradicting the official narrative in Pretti’s case

Know your rights: Understanding your constitutional protections during encounters with law enforcement is essential

Secure legal representation immediately: Time-sensitive evidence and witness testimony can be critical

Protect your estate and family: Unexpected incidents can leave families vulnerable without proper legal planning in place

On January 25, 2026, a deadly confrontation unfolded in Minneapolis that raises critical questions about civil liberties, use of force, and the rights of observers during law enforcement operations. For California residents managing family estates and concerned about protecting their loved ones from legal overreach, this incident underscores the importance of understanding your constitutional rights—and having proper legal safeguards in place.

What Happened: The Fatal Encounter

Federal immigration agents shot and killed Alex Pretti during an operation in Minneapolis’ Whittier neighborhood on Saturday, January 23, 2026. According to CNN’s analysis of seven videos and eyewitness testimony, the incident raises serious questions about the justification for lethal force.

Key Facts from Video Evidence and Witness Accounts:

Pretti was helping direct traffic and observing the federal operation when confronted by officers

Video analysis shows Pretti never displayed violent behavior or held the handgun that was later removed from his waistband

An officer retrieved Pretti’s firearm from his waistband, and approximately one second later, 10 shots were fired

A pediatrician who witnessed the shooting reported that ICE agents initially resisted allowing medical assessment and were “counting his bullet wounds” rather than administering CPR

What Legal Experts Are Saying

Rob Doar, president of Minnesota Gun Owners Law Center, stated: “I see nothing that Mr. Pretti did that was unlawful. The narrative that’s been coming out (of the administration) afterwards, I think is going to have a chilling effect … it’s going to confuse people about the rights that they actually have.”

Brian Higgins, an adjunct professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and retired police chief, noted: “This individual didn’t appear to me to even have his hand on the firearm at any time. So really, there’s no threat. He’s just carrying it.”

Why This Matters for California Families

If you’re a California resident concerned about protecting your family’s rights and assets, this incident highlights several critical issues:

1. Understanding Your Constitutional Rights

The right to observe law enforcement activities

Second Amendment protections for lawful firearm possession

First Amendment rights to document and protest government actions

2. Protecting Your Family Through Proper Legal Documentation

Advance Healthcare Directives that specify your medical wishes if incapacitated

Durable Power of Attorney designations to ensure someone you trust can act on your behalf

Estate plans that protect your assets and provide for your loved ones

3. Questions This Case Raises About Government Accountability

When is lethal force justified during law enforcement operations?

What are your rights when observing federal agents in public spaces?

How can families seek justice when government agents exceed their authority?

The Administration’s Response vs. Video Evidence

Border Patrol official Gregory Bovino claimed that Pretti “was in the scene actively impeding and assaulting law enforcement,” calling Border Patrol agents “the victims” in the shooting.DHS Secretary Kristi Noem stated, “You shouldn’t show up with weapons… and no indication of how they’re going to be used.”

However, video evidence analyzed by CNN contradicts these claims, showing no violent actions by Pretti and revealing he was helping direct traffic before the confrontation.

Delayed Medical Response Raises Additional Concerns

Despite DHS claims that “medics on scene immediately delivered medical aid,”video evidence shows federal agents did not provide Pretti medical assistance until more than a minute after the shooting.A pediatrician who attempted to help reported that ICE agents initially resisted allowing them to assess Pretti, and when finally permitted, found him with no pulse while agents appeared to be counting bullet wounds rather than performing life-saving measures.

Rising costs for interior materials and FFE may seem inevitable, but artificial intelligence innovation is untethering procurement from traditional supply chain mark-up, tariffs and other roadblocks, for savings that can reach 50% or more. We queried Alex Seyfert, CEO, FlumeAI, to find out how this disruptive technology is transforming commercial real estate procurement.

Q: What are specific supply-chain pain points that AI could address for developers?

A: AI can relieve recurring procurement frustrations for developers, contractors and designers, at dramatic cost savings. Traditional supply chains rely on limited distributor networks that add multiple markups and restrict options. Quotes are often based on outdated design drawings, leading to cost spikes late in the process. Developers also face long lead times, domestic shortages, tariff disruptions, and manual, time-consuming supplier searches. AI platforms like Flume can rapidly screen tens of thousands of global manufacturers to match quality, regulatory, and budget requirements, bypassing intermediaries. They also manage sample approvals, customs navigation, and delivery coordination, preventing schedule delays. The result is reduced pricing volatility, faster sourcing, and fewer compromises of the original design intent for the project.

Q: Can you provide recent example / case studies?

A: A hotel project in Monterey, CA saved over $100,000, about 50% off of what suppliers quoted earlier, on bathroom tile, flooring, and other finish materials after AI-enabled sourcing identified offshore manufacturers offering equal or better quality. The solution also avoided tariffs scheduled to take effect, maintaining the construction timeline.

For a Texas builder doing a 120-unit tiny-homes multifamily project, Flume has saved them over $150,000 on materials.

A hotel redevelopment in Arkansas saved more than $500,000 using the same approach, sourcing high-quality materials from alternate manufacturers compared to initial options.

Q: Where is the development/construction sector on the learning curve for implementing AI solutions?

A: The development and construction industry is in the early-to-emerging adoption phase. For example, AI-driven procurement is still unconventional to many designers and developers, who remain protective of design intent. The Kimpton design and development team initially approached the process with caution before gaining confidence through data, samples, and collaboration, then ordered more and more. And momentum for this new solution is growing as market volatility makes traditional models less reliable.

Q: What are some emerging applications for AI in material sourcing?

A: AI is enabling new procurement capabilities beyond cost comparison. Platforms can match product specifications to global manufacturing options at scale, preserving design vision while reducing expenses. Models can identify compliant suppliers across borders, navigate tariffs and customs, accelerate lead times, and flag risks tied to shortages or price swings. And with direct manufacturer access, builders can meet value engineering goals with upgrades rather than downgrades.

Q: What opportunities are supply-chain and CRE companies missing with AI?

A: Most teams in the industry are already using tools like ChatGPT for surface-level tasks like drafting and doing lightweight research. The real gains come from deeper workflow optimization, and that requires domain-specific solutions. In commercial real estate, there’s effectively zero margin for error. For example, Flume pairs AI systems with seasoned human experts: the AI accelerates and expands what’s possible, but humans remain the decision-makers.

In CRE supply chains, the biggest issue is information asymmetry. There’s an enormous amount of data spread across languages, product categories, geographies, and contexts. AI is uniquely suited to cut through that complexity. That’s where Flume positions itself: an AI-amplified service partner for developers and builders, improving CapEx and supporting projects from early design through final procurement. We can step in during design to help architects and designers explore materials and options that maintain the aesthetic intent while staying on budget. And later in the process, we use AI to source the best pricing globally for already-specified materials. It’s about bringing more transparency, more optionality, and ultimately better financial outcomes to an industry that has historically operated with far too little of all three.
