Los Angeles County already has the largest inventory of indoor filmable sound stages in the U.S. at 389 stages totaling 5.4 million square feet, Cushman & Wakefield reported. That figure could more than double with the addition of projects that are either planned, proposed or already under construction.
“Demand for indoor sound stage space has risen over the last several years due to a tight supply and limited vacancy,” according to Cushman & Wakefield’s Jolanta Campion and Dan Hunker. The firm identified 1.4 million square feet of projects already in development, the largest of which is the 926,000-square-foot Warner Bros. Ranch Lot redevelopment in Burbank (pictured).
In addition, more than 5.6 million square feet of additional stages are planned or proposed. These include the Fox Studio Lot expansion (approximately two million square feet and nine stages) in Century City, and TVC 2050 (1.6 million square feet and nine stages) in Beverly Hills.
