Inglewood Breaks Ground on First Phase of Transit Connector Project

Inglewood city officials broke ground on the $261-million first phase of the Inglewood Transit Connector project, which aims to improve mobility between the Metro K Line, the Downtown/Market Street area and the Sports and Entertainment District around SoFi Stadium. The 1.6-mile project includes three mobility hubs for improved access to buses and a series of streetscape beautifications, according to the Los Angeles Business Journal.

Concord-based Swinerton is the major construction contractor, with Plenary Americas providing much of the project financing and oversight, the Business Journal reported. Houston-based Walter P Moore and Associates Inc. is the lead designer.

The project is expected to wrap up in the spring of 2028, a few months before the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games bring many events to Inglewood, including the Opening Ceremony and swimming events at SoFi Stadium and basketball events across the street at the Intuit Dome. Phase 2 will bring an automated people mover.
