Former Performing Arts School Sells to Summa Academy as Its Third Bay Area Campus

Colliers completed the sale of 2730 Mitchell Dr., a 43,702-square-foot school facility in Walnut Creek, formerly the site of the Contra Costa School of Performing Arts. The buyer, Summa Academy, acquired the asset for $7.1 million. Summa Academy is a non-public school dedicated to serving students (K-22) with autism and other special needs through individualized education and life-skills development.

The Walnut Creek location is the largest of Summa Academy’s three East Bay schools. With this location, the organization has room to expand and provide creative space for its students, including a mock apartment with a laundry room and a kitchen.

Colliers managing director Scott Ellis, EVP Larry Easterly and associate Charles Easterly represented Contra Costa Performing Arts School. Larry Easterly and SVP Ben Harrison represented Summa Academy.

Given 2730 Mitchell Dr.’s former use, “it was important to us to preserve the site as an educational resource for the community,” said Larry Easterly.
