A new six-story inpatient tower at the 52-acre Baylor Scott & White Medical Center (BSW) in Waxahachie should be ready this fall. Construction on the tower is complete. Remaining work will focus on training, installing equipment, cleaning and establishing new processes for the space.
The $240 million facility will add 59 beds to the current 140-bed medical center and feature an intensive care unit, an expanded emergency department and an expanded surgery department.
The expanded complex will generate about 200 additional jobs in the first 12 months and up to 400 in the next 2 to 3 years.
The investment will allow the hospital to provide expanded services, including advanced cardiac care, higher levels of trauma care, and advanced cancer care. BSW is building another 29,000-square-foot medical building across the street that will house new outpatient primary care, imaging and urgent care services.
